Earlier today, we reported that production has wrapped on
Marvel's Doctor Strange in New York City. And now we begin the long wait to see
the first trailer. Doctor Strange will be the second movie in Marvel Phase
Three, following Captain America: Civil War, which pits all of Marvel's heroes
against each other. Doctor Strange hasn't been properly introduced into the MCU
yet, and he isn't expected to be introduced in Captain America: Civil War
either. But that didn't stop directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo from sharing
a GIF image on their Facebook page, revealing which side the Sorcerer Supreme
is on.
The GIF image is taken from a scene we've already seen in
the Captain America: Civil War trailer, where Team Cap and Team Iron Man battle
each other on an airport runway. The filmmakers decided to use their editing
skills to insert the Sorcerer Supreme alongside Team Cap members Captain
America (Chris Evans), The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), The Falcon (Anthony
Mackie), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth
Olsen). Doctor Strange isn't expected to actually fight with Team Cap, but it's
an amusing GIF nonetheless.
It's possible that Doctor Strange may surface during an end
credits scene in Captain America: Civil War. Especially since the directors
have stated that there may be as many as three extra scenes shown during the
credits. We don't have any details about what these scenes will actually
contain. With that said, it would make sense to introduce Doctor Strange into
the MCU with one of these extra moments.
In related Doctor Strange news, we have new photos and
videos from the production's last day in New York City, where Benedict
Cumberbatch visited a local comic book shop in between takes. The actor
appeared in full costume at JHU Comics in a photo posted on the Marvel Twitter
account. And we even have video from the store's surveillance cameras, courtesy
of Youtuber Ron Hill, that show his surprise appearance. JHU Comics is also
where director Scott Derrickson was seen in a photo he released through his
Twitter account, which revealed that production had wrapped.
Do you think there could be an introduction to Doctor
Strange during an end credits scene for Captain America: Civil War? We'll be
sure to keep you posted with any and all updates for both Captain America:
Civil War, in theaters May 6, and Doctor Strange, debuting November 4. In the
meantime, take a look at these videos and photos below.
